Website: http://balbusspeech.com/ Connect with Balbus Speech as they take social media to another level by providing an online network that allows individuals with speech disorders, and therapists alike to connect via the Internet. Social media and mobile technology join to create a community of stutterers, speech therapists, family members and friends. When you have a vision it is easy for dreams to become reality- “Through my own experiences with speech therapy, I understand the difficulties faced by a whole community of people like me. I always wanted a way to expand the effect of my therapy. I thought: If I attend speech therapy for just an hour each week, what happens when the session ends and I head back into the real world? I struggled to maintain my comfortable level of fluency once therapy sessions ended. I wanted a way to connect, be supported, and find inspiration. That’s where the idea for Balbus Speech originated.” Jack McDermott Founder & CEO Join the community-Follow Balbus Speech on Twitter @BalbusSpeech, Become a Facebook Fan , Subscribe to their YouTube Channel and View their latest photos on Flicker....Looking forward to the iOS application that Balbus Speech is currently developing! Website of the Week for June 20, 2011: Straight Street...Great Website to Download Symbols6/21/2011 Website: http://www.straight-street.com/
This is a great FREE site that allows the user to search for symbols and then download groups of symbols to use. It does require you to create a username in order to download the symbols, but everything is free of charge. This website is great if you do not have access to Boardmaker. It is user friendly, click on Get Symbols and then search for the symbols that you need. Special Thanks to the Creators of Straight-Street.com!! Website: http://www.aslpro.com/functional_groups.html
ASL Pro has a wonderful link on their site that provides functional groups (i.e.animals, around the house, living room) along with vocabulary with the corresponding signs for each group and printable worksheets. This is really an engaging website that allows the user to click on different pictures from the different groups and then a visual model comes on the screen and performs the sign. According to ASLPro, "The Functional Group approach to American Sign Language introduces ASL vocabulary in a natural context." They also have a lot of other great resources on this website, so be sure to stay and browse! Special Thanks to the creators of ASL Pro for providing such a great resource! |
